Christine will be participating in our panel session reflecting on the centenary of women entering chartered accountancy.
View the sessions View other speakersChristine left school at 15 with only the Edinburgh School certificate, A’s or A star in all subjects and moved to Bath when my parent’s marriage broke down.
She signed Articles in 1972, and in 1976 became the first woman to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in Bath. At a time when women made up only 2% of the membership.
In 1986 Christine, with another, became half of the first all-female partnership in Bristol. Unfortunately, they had a substantial Practice loan and the recession started the following year with interest rates upwards of 17%. They survived when other firms went bankrupt and remained friends, in spite of a few tense moments.
Christine is now enjoying retirement, in Torquay, after an interesting and fulfilling career.
