Fiona Wilkinson

Fiona will be discussing 100 years of women in the chartered accountancy profession and the untold story of ICAEW's first female chartered accountant.

Fiona Wilkinson, Immediate Past-President of ICAEW, qualified as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant in 1980. She spent 11 years with Deloitte in London and Jersey, but also worked in Europe and Canada.

Fiona then went on to set up her own practice, working as a technical consultant to firms advising them on auditing, financial reporting and practice assurance.

Quality in auditing and financial reporting is at the heart of her daily work and Fiona is keen to help restore trust and ensure that quality is maintained through continuous improvement. She believes that auditing and accounting standards are at the core of building a world of strong economies and are essential to raise standards of living and prosperity.

Fiona is an ambassador for diversity and inclusion in the profession, spreading the message that accountancy is an inclusive profession which is open to all, no matter what their background.

Fiona became President of the South West District Society in 2004/05 and turned it around by encouraging younger members, women and student representatives to become involved.  During the last thirteen years she has served as chair of the Professional Standards Board, ICAEW Board Director and chair of the Ethics Advisory Committee.

Fiona is married with three grown up children and likes to go to the theatre and ballet in her spare time.
